Celebrate Art in the Park’s 10th Anniversary in Miami, FL with a special free pop-up tufting workshop led by Intro to Tufting, powered by JD Sports. This hands-on experience invites participants to explore the art of rug tufting while creating their own custom sneaker-inspired rug.

About the event
This workshop is designed for beginners and creatives alike, offering a guided introduction to tufting in a fun, supportive, and high-energy environment. Each participant will work on a pre-stretched frame with a pre-drawn sneaker outline, allowing you to focus on the creative process of filling in your design with vibrant yarn. Throughout the session, you’ll learn how to safely operate a tufting gun, understand yarn flow and texture, and build dimension through color and technique.
The class follows Intro to Tufting’s signature workshop structure to ensure a smooth and engaging experience:
Intro + Safety & Demo (1 hour): Overview of tufting tools, safety practices, and a live demonstration of the process
Tufting Session (2.5 hours): Hands-on time to bring your sneaker rug to life with guidance and support throughout
Trimming & Shaping (30 minutes): Learn how to clean up your rug and define details using trimmers and scissors
